Museum of South Texas History - 1910 Jail Restoration & Renovation
Project Description
D. Wilson Construction restored the historic Old Jail, built in 1909-1910 in Spanish Mission Revival style by Ayers & Phelps. The brick walls, concrete floors, and clay tile roof had deteriorated over decades due to rising damp. We reinforced both the interior and exterior structural walls, installed stainless steel through-wall flashing, and renovated all doors and windows. During the project, we salvaged iron artifacts and uncovered intact historical items, including old newspapers, which were preserved for museum display.
